PWDF Update

PWDF Seeks Volunteers for Exciting Opportunity to Create a New Fundraising Committee

PWDF, a small § 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency in San Francisco serving people with psychiatric and/or developmental disabilities, is seeking volunteers to create and serve on a new Fundraising Committee. PWDF’s Mission Statement is: “Our mission is to provide education and advocacy for people with psychiatric and/or developmental disabilities, so that they can achieve equal opportunities in all aspects of life.”

PWDF accomplishes its mission through two program components: advocacy and education. Our Advocacy Program provides hands-on legal representation to individuals with psychiatric, intellectual, and/or developmental disabilities in eight San Francisco Bay Area counties. Our Public Awareness/ Education Program provides workshops and trainings in the San Francisco Bay Area through in-person workshops and nationwide through live-streaming. The Program produces public awareness seminars and professional-quality training videos. We have also initiated a pilot grant-making program to support other nonprofit agencies in their work on behalf of people with psychiatric, intellectual, and/or developmental disabilities. For more information about PWDF, see our website at www.pwdf.org.

Volunteer Responsibilities: Volunteers must be dedicated to PWDF’s mission. We welcome assistance with any or all of these tasks according to the volunteer’s expertise and availability.

  • Work with PWDF’s Board of Directors, staff, and other fundraising volunteers to develop the structure of a Fundraising Committee or non-voting Fundraising Board;
  • Develop a fundraising plan appropriate for the agency given its mission, size, and resources;
  • Carry out adopted fundraising strategy, perhaps including managing pro bono consultants, leading components of the fundraising plan, participating in fundraising activities, and building awareness about PWDF among your networks.

Time Commitment: To be determined as the Fundraising Committee is created and established.

Term: To be determined by the Fundraising Committee.

Agency Size: Annual budget on the order of $500,000.

Instructions for applying:  Please submit your resume with a letter indicating what excites you about PWDF, why you support PWDF’s mission and are interested in volunteering for PWDF’s fundraising efforts, what role you are seeking (i.e., create Committee and plan and/or serve as a member), and what qualifications you bring to the Committee.  Please email submission to April Banerjee at ed@pwdf.org by October 15, 2019.
