Education Program Update2019 Seminar Planning Continues; Seminars are Subtitled and Captioned on You Tube; Contact Us for Workshops and Information SessionsPWDF’s Public Awareness and Education Program is currently planning our next public awareness seminar on the topic of Older Adults and mental or Developmental Disabilities; losing independence, care-taking/assistive living. This seminar will include an in-depth section regarding “Estate Planning for People with Psychiatric/ Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (IDD),” i.e., appointing someone to act on behalf of another over the person and/or property. Please keep an eye out for more information regarding this topic in late 2019 or early 2020 to be combined with the Seminar. PWDF has a library of our Seminars on the Past Seminars page on our website as well as on our YouTube channel. We have recently added closed captioning with auto-translation to all our seminar videos, allowing viewers to translate the captioning of our seminars into 104 different languages. To do this, all you have to do is click on one of our videos. Then, turn closed-captioning to on, by clicking the CC button at the bottom right of the video. Once you have turned on the captions, click the gear symbol and select the arrow to the right of “English (auto-generated)”. This brings up a list of the 104 languages for you to auto-translate the closed captions into the language you prefer. See PWDF’s YouTube channel for all our videos. PWDF has VHS copies of Seminar 2 – Accommodating Employees and Job Applicants with Psychiatric Disabilities to donate out to “needy” agencies, such as nonprofits, libraries, and schools. If your organization is interested in receiving a copy of this seminar on VHS, please contact Damien Chacona at education@pwdf.org. PWDF is available for speaking arrangements and training sessions regarding reasonable accommodations, employment, housing and other issues regarding the mentally and/or developmentally disabled population. We have particular expertise in Social Security/SSDI and SSI disability post-entitlement/eligibility issues. See our website for event updates and subscribe to our contact list for future event notifications.
