COMMUNITY OUTREACH

PWDF Online – Where to Find Us on the Internet

By Laurence Jones, Program Coordinator for Public Awareness and Education

PWDF is a recognized leader with specific expertise advocating for issues related to psychiatric and developmental disabilities.  One of our goals is to provide education and advocacy information to those who would benefit from PWDF’s knowledge and expertise. Social media allows a unique, easy, and free access point to a host of our materials, research, and connections to other resources from partner organizations.

PWDF features content on our website, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn pages. PWDF also actively curates a YouTube channel. We encourage our followers and constituents to check out all of our venues for the latest postings, and vast back catalog of resources available.

PWDF hopes to expand the reach of our education and advocacy work through connections made through social media.  During late 2015 through early 2016, PWDF received assistance from the NYU Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service Capstone Program with developing our social media outreach strategies.

On our website www.pwdf.org you will find the widest assortment of information. Here you will find our mission statement and history, along with biographies of our staff and their professional experience. Alongside this information we include our current newsletters and events, ways to donate, and the ability to buy our recognized training videos that address employment accommodations.

We often direct our most pertinent updates on our website to our social media outlets. You can find long form updates on our website, with shorter summary paragraphs describing content on our Facebook page. We also use our Facebook page as an additional means of direct engagement, alongside emailing us at info@pwdf.org.

We post materials to our Twitter account  @PWD_Foundation as well. You can follow both our Facebook page and our Twitter account to receive and check in on the latest updates we post on that account. Most of the content we distribute through Twitter includes links to more detailed content available on our website.

On our YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/adminpwdf) we have an assortment of videos, ranging from segments of our training videos to videos of our previous public awareness seminars. The public seminar videos in particular have an extended outreach purpose to keep constituents abreast of complex challenges in psychiatric and developmental disabilities in our world today. The diversity of topics represented on our YouTube channel include reasonable accommodations in housing, disability discrimination, and others.

We welcome you to engage with our wide range of materials. We also appreciate feedback on these resources and on topics related to psychiatric and developmental disabilities you find of interest.
