People With Disabilities Foundation Media Archives: New Videos on our YouTube Channel
By: PWDF Staff PWDF is a continually recognized leader with specific expertise in advocacy and education on issues related to psychiatric and developmental disabilities. For the past nearly 17 years, PWDF has provided public information seminars, workshops and training videos. These seminars contain information related to a variety issues surrounding psychiatric and developmental disabilities, including employment, access to health care, assistive technology for those on the autism spectrum, and psychiatric service animals, among others. A complete list of our past seminars is provided below, with links to them on our Youtube channel as available. In 2017, we continue to expand upon our goal to provide education and advocacy information to those who would benefit from PWDF’s knowledge and expertise, as well as that of other experts. Our goal is to expand the reach of our education and advocacy work through connections made through audio-visual media by excavating the media archives of our previous public awareness seminars and making these materials available to a larger audience. PWDF Education Program Coordinator for Technology, Todd Leachman, continues to curate our audio-visual media for consumption on our YouTube channel. In these updates to our resources, he is developing video content from our previous 3-hour public awareness seminars and making them available on our YouTube channel. The goal of these new uploads is to provide videos in easier-to-digest increments of 30- to 45- minutes. This allows for viewers to review content at their pace, and to focus on individual segments that cover specific subtopics within our previous programming. The most recent segments uploaded to YouTube cover PWDF’s 2013 seminar “Overcoming Barriers to Physical Health Care Access — People with Mental Disabilities Have Shorter Life Spans” and our first seminar, “Disabled Students in Elementary and Secondary Schools – Coping Skills and Sensitivity Training,” from 2001. We are in the process of uploading segments from our 2001 seminar, “Accommodating Employees and Job Applicants with Psychiatric Disabilities in the Work Place.” You can find the video segments from the 2013 seminar on overcoming barriers to physical health care access here: 1) Part One – Overview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GH8vIE8S0DA2) Part Two – Remedies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htTfHjkHWPI3) Part Three – Substance Abuse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptYmRJlgqpY4) Part Four – Shorter Life Spans: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_I1yvT5Dm54&t=62s5) Part Five – Primary Care: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQ7LAZ8k0OQ Video segments from the 2001 seminar “Disabled Students in Elementary and Secondary Schools – Coping Skills and Sensitivity Training,” are available here: 1) Part One – Disability Harassment Guidance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlC0su-ZFjk&t=22s2) Part Two – Coping Skills and Sensitivity Training Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lh4-KWK_NH4&t=11s3) Part Three – Coping Skills and Sensitivity Training Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPCAvgKASiE The first video segment from our 2001 seminar, “Accommodating Employees and Job Applicants with Psychiatric Disabilities in the Work Place” is available here (remainder to follow soon): 1) Part One – Federal and State Legal Framework: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dhi3U4vYarE A list of our seminar titles, with links to full videos or clips previously uploaded on our YouTube channel is as follows: – Disabled Students in Elementary and Secondary Schools – Coping Skills and Sensitivity Training (see links above) – Accommodating Employees and Job Applicants with Psychiatric Disabilities in the Work Place (see link above) – Social Security Disability Work Incentive Programs: available on CD on our website http://www.pwdf.org/category/online-store/ – Housing Issues for People with Psychiatric and/or Developmental Disabilities: available on CD on our website http://www.pwdf.org/category/online-store/ – Accommodating Students with Psychiatric Disabilities in Colleges and Universities: not available on video due to technical difficulties – Health Care Issues for People with Psychiatric (or Developmental) Disabilities – Hospital Assessments and Referrals Emergency Room Triage: next seminar planned for uploading – PWDF Seminar: Multiculturalism and Psychiatric Disabilities: https://youtu.be/ofWtKtvamFA – PWDF Video Premiere: Understanding Employees and Job Applicants with Psychiatric Disabilities: https://youtu.be/lVRZ3qyH1EE – Understanding Employees and Job Applicants with Psychiatric and/or Developmental Disabilities: https://youtu.be/ABPPzsslO-8 – Understanding Employees and Job Applicants With Psychiatric Disabilities: https://youtu.be/-ZSsZ5nQLL0 – Psychiatric Service Animals: Current Law, Experiences and Visions of Hope – Autism and Technology: Resources and Opportunities for Transitional Age Youth, an Interactive Discussion: See list of segment titles and links at http://www.pwdf.org/media-update-winter-2017/ – PWDF Seminar: Overcoming Barriers to Physical Health Care Access – People with Mental Disabilities Have Shorter Life Spans: https://youtu.be/oMZ1lpjX4nA – PWDF Seminar: Abuse Against People with Mental and/or Developmental and/or Intellectual Disabilities (Part 1 – Institutional or Community Settings): https://youtu.be/q_yW-qpMxo4 – PWDF Seminar: Abuse Against People with Mental and/or Developmental Disabilities (Part 2 – Prisons): https://youtu.be/Tc1wa39sxJE – PWDF Online Workshop: Disability Discrimination Lawsuits: https://youtu.be/d_1KtT1tImM – PWDF Seminar: Reasonable Accommodations in Housing for People with Psychiatric and/or Developmental Disabilities: https://youtu.be/AmzLp2N8CBU – PWDF Seminar: Integration of Adults with Autism into the Whole of Society: https://youtu.be/C2ncehl_Ots – Misc.
